RAMAYANA JIBE: PM NARENDRA MODI LINKS CONGRESS MP RENUKA CHOUDHARY’S HYSTERICAL LAUGHTER TO ‘SURPANAKHA’, HOWLS OF PROTEST FOLLOW IN LOK SABHA
Prime Minister Narendra Modi linked laughter of Congress’ Member of Parliament Renuka Chowdhury to mythological television Ramayana in Lok Sabha on Wednesday. The PM compared the MP’s laughter with Surpanakha, Ravana’s sister.
However, the reference came with strong protests from the members of Congress. He made that reference when the chair was threatening to name her for continuous disruption. He asked Rajya Sabha Chairman not to stop her from laughing as it reminded one of Ramayana serial.The PM did not mention any character from the mythology.
Speaking on the same, Renuka told Mirror, “If the PM thinks he can call me Surpanakha (Ravana’s sister) and get away with it I am not going to allow it.”
She said she would mobilise protest in both the Houses tomorrow. “Because he spoke inside the House, I can’t do a thing. Outside, I could have sued Modi.”
The former Union Minister, who promptly stood up and demanded an apology from the P.M. She was put down by B.J.P. Members. “I’m upset that no one from my party-backs me.”
She said she broke into a laugh when the PM credited the idea of Aadhaar to BJP veteran LK Advani. “According to Modi’s claims, Aadhaar was the vision of Advani in the 80s. I couldn’t help laughing.”
