Seems like Bollywood has taken a liking towards biopics. And why not ? The country has produced wonderful personalities over the period of time and, Mithali Raj is certainly one of them.

After Kapil Dev’s narrative starring Ranveer Singh, Mithali Raj ‘s biopic joins the cult. Viacom 18 Motion Pictures has acquired the official rights of a film to be made on the legend.

Mithali Raj is the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket . Adding another feather to her cap, the only woman cricketer to surpass the 6,000 run-mark in ODIs. The glorious journey of this feat includes two ICC World cup finals. In addition to a Arjuna award, Raj shines with Padma Shri to her name, India’s fourth highest civilian honour for her contribution in the field of cricket. Talking about her journey, she is one of the greatest cricketing batters to have ever played the game. Raj is also the first player to score 7 consecutive 50s in ODIs.

“Viacom18 Motion Pictures has always been the pioneer in showcasing content with portrayal of strong women characters right from ‘Queen’ to ‘Kahaani’ to ‘Mary Kom’.

“We are proud to be collaborating with the young and inspirational Mithali Dorai Raj.”  Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures told. Mithali Raj is a name that is responsible for women’s cricket team was perception in our country.

“I am extremely happy on this association with Viacom18 Motion Pictures. Hoping that this movie inspires more people especially young girls to take up sports as a career.” The Indian skipper said in a report. The Women’s cricket team is rolling high after the success in the just concluded World Cup campaign.

Although who will be the protagonist in the famous biopic is not yet in the talks. Likewise the responsibility of the direction is also unclear at this point of time.
