Leopard Scare In Dehradun: Predator escapes residential colony after hours of panic

In a shocking incident, a leopard entered the vicinity of Kewal Vihar area in Uttarakhand's Dehradun and created widespread panic among residents.

Residents of the Kewal Vihar area in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun received a rude shock yesterday after a leopard entered the residential colony.

According to a popular news channel, the incident occurred last evening. After a leopard strayed into a house in the colony on Shastrabudhe Road and stayed there for over six hours. A video shows him jumping into the house and, a few seconds later, a panicked homeowner running out.

Panic also ensues among other residents of the colony after they realise what happened. The video shows them running away from the house.

According to Times of India, residents said that forest department officials that reached the spot to rescue the animal waited for hours for a veterinarian from Rajaji Tiger Reserve to arrive as not a single personnel trained to tranquillise the predator was available in Dehradun or Mussoorie’s forest divisions. The beast ran away just minutes before the vet was about to tranquillise it.
