Virat Kohli has set the benchmark high when it comes to fitness in the team. The Indian skipper leading from the front has set exemplary standards of fitness and inspires the team to live upto the same.

Virat Kohli can be often see sweating it out in the gym and remains one of the fittest cricketers in the team. He lives a healthy lifestyle and eats healthy food maintaining a strict fitness regime.

The Top-gun has been making the headlines for all the right reasons as his bat does the talking for him. Meanwhile he grabbed all eyeballs by making a move that can inspire a generation. The skipper has shown he practices what he preaches by turning down a multi-crore ad deal with a leading soft drink brand.

Virat Kohli confirmed that he did indeed turn down an opportunity to star in an advertisement for a leading soft-drink company as he doesn’t consume aerated drinks.

His philosophy of trying to be in the best possible physical and mental shape when competing at the highest level has also rubbed off on many in the Indian team. His agility reflects in how he builds his innings by running quick singles and converting ones into twos.

Virat Kohli once said that as captain, he doesn’t demand anything of his teammates that he “can’t do first”.

“I first convince myself I can do it and only then ask my teammates to go for it,” he said.

The Indian team participated in a ‘Yo-Yo’ endurance test recently and if reports are to be believed, Kohli, easily the fittest Indian cricketer, scored around 21 in the test while the acceptable ‘Yo-Yo’ score is 19.5 and upwards. The ‘Yo-Yo’ endurance test is an advanced version of the ‘beep’ test. The ‘beep’ test is a primitive endurance test for earlier generations.

In fact, the Indian team seems to have preferred fitter players as a comparison to earlier times. But now fitness is a key criteria for anyone who wishes to make it to the team.
We applaud King Kholi’s bold move on refusing the deal and wish him and Team India luck for the upcoming Australian series.
