In a shocking incident, the father of a rape victim was dead in police custody. The victim alleged she was raped by BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar.
Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala in a statement accuses BJP of running a ‘goonda raj’ in Uttar Pradesh. The remark came in action due to the BJP MLA rape case. The woman’s father was in police custody on Sunday after she futile suicide attempt outside the residence of Uttar Pradesh C.M. Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow. Several news sources confirm the state of affairs.
Surjewala was all guns blazing with the report. In a Tweet, he reacts to the death of the man by brutal blows of the police:
“Gruesome & barbaric! Humanity gets shamed as the rape victim attempts suicide & her father is beaten & dies in police custody. Instead of arresting criminals, victims are behind bars by U.P. BJP Govt. ‘Goonda Raj’ prevails in U.P, justice held to ransom as BJP leaders run a-mock.”

However, the BJP MLA the prime accused of raping the woman, Kuldeep Sengar denies any connection. He is steering clear of the death of the man while dismissing the rape allegation as baseless.
The woman alleges that Sengar and his associates’ were responsible for her rape. Whereas the shocking fact was that the authorities refused to register a complaint. She went through all and every option to register a case, but there was no hand of help. The frustrating situation surely got to her as she attempted suicide a couple of times. She tried to set herself on fire on both occasions. First outside Adityanath’s residence, and then outside the Gautam Palli Police Station.
Meanwhile, the police tell a very different tale. The shed light on another angle of the story. Rajiv Krishan, ADG Lucknow states that there is more to the allegations than meets the eyes:
“On further probe it was found that both parties are in a dispute since 10 to 12 years. Allegations can be proved only after a thorough probe.”
