A farmer in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district has come up with a rather “innovative” idea to keep his crop safe from the “evil” eyes of villagers. A Chenchu Reddy, a 45-year-old farmer of Banda Kindi Palle village has put up a poster of porn-star-turned-Bollywood-actor Sunny Leone adjacent to his 10-acre farm.
According to a story in a popular newspaper, Reddy believes that the poster is keeping his “good” cauliflower crop safe from the evil eyes of his villagers. Sunny Leone to the rescue.
“This year, I have a good crop on 10 acres. This has been attracting the unnecessary attention of villagers and passersby. To ward off their evil eye, I thought of this idea. I put up the big flax poster of Sunny Leone a couple of days ago”. Raddy shares his excitement in a recent interview to a news agency.
A message on the poster reads- Hey, don’t cry or feel jealous of me. “The trick has worked. Nobody is looking at my crop now,” Reddy told the newspaper.
It is a usual practice for farmers in rural India to use scarecrow to ward off birds from their fields. But Reddy’s innovative idea to keep “jealous glares” of villagers is, in fact, doing the job well for the farmer.
